We know that giving birth is more than the physical act of a baby being born. With each baby's birth, a new mother is born.

How well a woman feels listened to and how well she feels supported during pregnancy and birth will effect the way she feels and thinks about herself, her birth, her baby, and her partner.

A doula's presence before and during labor allows the woman to relax and feel safe while her healthcare providers monitor the birth. The doula supports the new mother and her partner in whatever way necessary, before, during and after labor.
